your wedding - what about your relationship?
Your wedding~what about your relationship?

~ What counts in making a happy marriage is not so much how compatible you are, but how you deal with incompatibility (Leo Tolstoy, 1828-1910)

As an authorised Commonwealth-registered Civil Marriage Celebrant I am legally obliged to provide couples with relationship information.

RESOURCES
You may like to obtain free copies (to keep) of one or more relationship DVDs produced by the Australian Government's Department of Social Services.

The series is titled Keys to Living Together and includes:
Taking the First Step – planning for your life together
Instant Families – if one or both of you already has children
Then We Were Three – the transition from a couple to a family

PROGRAMS
You might also like to consider enrolling in a pre-marriage program offered by an organisation such as:
• Relationships Australia – www.relationships.org.au
• Better Relationships (Anglicare) – www.betterrelationships.com.au
• Centacare – www.centacarebrisbane.net.au

These agencies offer programs designed to help you:
• better understand different aspects of your relationship (e.g. personality differences, communication styles, family backgrounds, beliefs about parenting or dealing with money)
• develop the skills that will help both of you to handle the challenges that are part of sharing your life with another person.

YOUR CHOICE
It is recommended that you undertake a relationship or pre-marriage course – however it is entirely up to you; it is not compulsory.
